5) How can I make the security deposit?
The security deposit is made by charging a credit card in the name of the person signing the rental agreement.
6) Can I rent a vehicle or make the security deposit with someone else’s credit card?
No, you cannot. Rental agreements are personal, and it is accepted only the debit or credit card of the person signing the agreement, who is also the only person allowed to drive the vehicle.
7) Can I use my credit card’s insurance policy?
Yes, you can, as far as the credit card company provides coverage in Costa Rica.

9) What should I do in case of mechanical failure?
If possible, head over to the nearest gas station or any public space where you can park the vehicle. Call our toll-free assistance number 800-123Rent (800-123-7368).
If you are not able to get any further, turn on the emergency lights or flashers, put on the safety vest, and place the safety triangles, put the first 50 meters away from the back of the vehicle and the second one 20 meters away from the front of the vehicle.
10) What happens if I damage my rental vehicle?
During the time of the rental, the rental vehicle is your responsibility. According to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement, any damage to the vehicle is your full responsibility.
11) Are traffic violations my responsibility?
The person who signs the rental agreement is responsible for any traffic violations made during the time of the rental. Keep in mind that they must be paid at the authorized local banks. Do not pay any kind of traffic infractions to local transit police officers or strangers.
12) Can I rent a vehicle to travel outside of Costa Rica?
Rental vehicles cannot travel outside of the country. The rental agreement limits travel exclusively within Costa Rican territory.
13) Can I cross rivers or lakes with the 4x4 vehicle I just rented?
No, you cannot drive a vehicle rented from TOYOTA Rent a Car through rivers, lakes, or similar. Remember you are responsible for any damage to the vehicle according to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.
We recommend that you do not travel to avoid damages to the vehicle.
15) Can I return the vehicle to a different location from where I picked it up?
For your convenience you can return the vehicle at a different station, this will have an extra charge depending on where you wish to return the vehicle.
16) Is there a vehicle drop-off and pick-up service to/from hotels?
No, drop-off and pick-up services are only available for the Juan Santamaria International Airport (Alajuela station) and Daniel Oduber International Airport (Liberia station).
17) How does the cancellation or change policy work?
Any changes or cancellations must be done before the end of the first 24 hours to avoid extra fees.
18) Are additional drivers permitted?
Additional drivers are permitted if they are registered at the time of the signing of the rental agreement. This way, the additional driver will also be covered by the insurance policy.
